Visit historic temples, stroll through incredible gardens, or stop by Bruce Lee’s old home
The bustling city of Foshan, which means “Buddha’s Mountain”, has a history that dates back five thousand years. Be sure to spend some time at the Foshan Ancestral Temple, a Daoist temple, museum, and exhibition center highlighting martial arts. Plenty of photo opportunities await at the spectacular Qinghui Garden, one of the top gardens in the country. Foshan is home to the Wing Chun style of kung fu, as well as kung fu masters Wong Fei Hung and Ip Man, who are memorialized in a hall at the 11th century Zumiao Temple. Bruce Lee also briefly lived in the city and you can visit his ancestral home.
Venture a bit further from the hotel to the Nanfeng Ancient Kiln artists’ village to learn about Ming dynasty pottery or stroll through the swanky shops at Foshan Lingnan Tiandi. You can also day trip to the nearby cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen for avant-garde architecture, creative theme parks, delicious dining, and fantastic shopping.
